Our team is passionate about helping people unlock their full potential and find their place in the exciting world of technology.
That's a great question! It all started in the 1990s, or maybe even the late 80s. Computer Coach has deep roots in Florida and is considered the oldest known computer training center in the state. Initially, it focused on corporate tech education and has been a trusted partner for businesses looking to upskill their teams. Over time, individuals began to seek enrollment, wanting to improve their skills without committing to a full college degree.
When Suzanne became CEO in the early 2000s, she recognized a greater opportunity. She believed that tech education should be accessible to everyone. To reach those in underserved communities, she expanded the program by offering online computer training classes.
Suzanne has always believed that learning should be accessible to everyone, regardless of location. In the early 2000s, Computer Coach began offering online, self-paced courses to bring education into the digital age. This vision was ahead of its time, but early online programs had limited success.
Despite this, the initiative marked a turning point in our mission to make education more accessible. It has guided our ongoing innovation in flexible learning options. At that time, technology couldn't match the depth and engagement of live, instructor-led courses, which were effective in our physical training centers. So, we paused self-paced learning and refocused on students who valued hands-on, face-to-face instruction. They thrived in environments that encouraged real-time interaction with trainers and peers.
Now, two decades later, corporate training, a lot of innovation, and the continuous belief that tech education should be accessible for all, the landscape of education has transformed dramatically. Advances in technology have enabled us to offer live online courses that are as effective as the traditional, in-person classroom experience we have always found success with. Through innovations like live video instruction, interactive platforms, and immersive learning tools, online education has become a dynamic and engaging alternative that meets the needs of today’s learners and gives access to those who might not be geographically located next to a computer training center.
At Computer Coach we have embraced a blended learning model that combines the best of both worlds—allowing students to benefit from the flexibility of online courses while retaining the hands-on, personalized attention of live instruction since 2017. This approach has revolutionized learning, making quality education accessible and tailored to individual needs, helping students thrive and succeed in ways that were once unimaginable.
Throughout the years, as we further developed our career training programs, it became clear that focusing on job placement was just as important as delivering top-notch skills training. This is where Suzanne's leadership truly pushed the boundaries. She developed the "Job-Seeker Framework," a job placement process that is unmatched in the industry. While still offering corporate training, Computer Coach offers a powerful combination of industry-focused training and personalized job placement services. Our students not only gain the skills they need to succeed but also receive the support and connections to secure the roles they’ve worked hard for. We still run some classes in person at our beautiful facility in Tampa, FL, but the bulk of our classes are available live online.
At one point we even had a Computer Coach mascot, named Smiley! We think it's time for him to resurface. 🙂
