From Salary Negotiations to Job Offers

Negotiating your salary can be stressful, but with the right preparation, you can navigate it successfully. Hear from guest speaker, Chris Rosbaugh, an experienced recruiter with more than 10 years of experience at Apex Systems.  In this webinar, Chris will guide you through each step from salary negotiation to job offer.

First, it’s important to mentally prepare for this process. Since salary negotiations can feel overwhelming, knowing what to expect will make a big difference. Start by researching the current market and understanding what you need to meet your personal budget goals. As you prepare, think about what’s most important to you.  Consider things such as location, remote work options, benefits, retirement plans, and salary. Assign value to each aspect of compensation to better prioritize during discussions.

Next, Chris will explain how to handle initial discussions with recruiters. You’ll learn how to respond to questions like, “What are you currently making?” and “What is your target salary?” Additionally, you’ll see how total compensation is much more than just salary—benefits and other perks matter, too!

When it’s time to negotiate, remember that you can use remote work to explore different markets. Honesty is important, but you don’t need to share every detail of your current status. If you’ve done your prep work, offering the first number won’t put you at a disadvantage.

Finally, when you receive an employment offer, Chris will explain why it’s not the best stage to negotiate.  He's also encourage you to get everything in writing. You’ll also learn how to carefully review the offer to ensure it aligns with previous discussions.
